7 kg Washing Machine: Who It’s Enough For and Which Models Are Worth It (2026)

Updated November 6, 2026. Written by Binyamin Elkalay. Compared on specs and Israeli shop prices, no lab testing.

A 7 kg washing machine (15.4 lb of dry laundry) is enough for one person, a couple or a rented apartment, but a family with children should step up to 8 kg. Based on store prices in November 2026, a 7 kg front-loader costs about ₪⁦1,050–2,000⁩ (NIS) from brands like Midea, Samsung and Electrolux, and 8 kg machines from known brands start at about ₪⁦1,250–1,750.⁩ So the decision should be made by space and need, not by saving a few tens of shekels.

We did not physically test the machines. This guide is based on specs published by manufacturers and stores, price ranges we saw on Israeli price comparison pages and importers’ terms. Below: 6 vs 7 vs 8 kg, what Bosch 7 kg models are really sold, dimensions, consumption and recommended models.

What to look at before buying

What to checkWhat it isOur recommendation
Capacity vs household size7 kg is the weight of dry laundry on the cotton program. On synthetics and delicates, roughly half is allowed. One person or a couple: ⁦6–7⁩ kg. A couple with a baby or a family of 3: 8 kg. The price difference vs 8 kg from a known brand is usually a few hundred shekels.
Spin speedA fast spin leaves less water in the clothes and shortens drying.1,200 RPM is enough for line-drying. Cheap 6 kg machines sometimes reach only ⁦800–1,000⁩ RPM; in an apartment without a sunny balcony, you’ll notice.
Energy label and consumptionOn the new label, consumption is shown in kWh per 100 cycles. Cheap small machines sometimes get a D.Compare the number: the Midea MFL70-U1201 states about ⁦69 kWh⁩ per 100 cycles with a D rating. An efficient ⁦8–9⁩ kg machine reaches about ⁦44–50.⁩
Depth and widthMost 7 kg front-loaders are ⁦60 cm⁩ wide and ⁦85 cm⁩ high, and the depth isn’t necessarily smaller. The Miele WEA0251 is listed at about ⁦63.6 cm⁩ deep. If depth is the problem, look for a slim model; if width, a ⁦40 cm⁩ top-loader.
NoiseCheap machines are noisier during the spin, which you notice in a small apartment. If the machine is in the kitchen or near a bedroom, look for a figure of up to about ⁦76 dB⁩ on spin. The Midea MFL70-U1201 states ⁦80 dB⁩.
Importer and warrantyWith cheap brands, the difference between an official importer and a reseller shows more in service and parts.Ask for the importer’s name on the invoice (e.g. Hamilton for Midea per one seller, Samsung Israel or Newpro for Samsung).

Who is a 7 kg washing machine enough for?

A 7 kg washing machine is enough for one person, a couple without children, a rented apartment and a second machine at home; for a family with children it’s too small.

7 kg is the weight of dry laundry on the cotton program. A couple’s daily wash usually weighs ⁦2–4⁩ kg, and a double bedding set with a few towels comes to about ⁦4–5⁩ kg. In other words, in a 7 kg machine a couple can wash the whole week in ⁦3–4⁩ cycles without a problem.

When 7 kg is exactly what you need:

  • A student apartment or rented apartment, where you don’t want to invest in a machine you’ll leave behind.
  • A young couple or an older person living alone.
  • A second machine for a studio unit (yechidat diyur), a rental apartment or a holiday home.
  • A place where the machine needs to be easy to deliver and install.

When to step up to 8 kg:

  • There’s a baby or child at home: laundry doubles quickly.
  • You wash duvets or double bedding at home.
  • The price difference is small: based on store prices in November 2026, the 8 kg Samsung WW8STA046AH starts at about ₪1,260, the LG WFS8014WB at about ₪1,750 and the Bosch WAN28278IL at about ₪1,870.

The comparison of 8, 9 and 10 kg is in our 8 kg washing machine guide, and the general recommendation in our best washing machine guide.

The common mistake is thinking 7 kg is always cheaper or smaller. In practice, as we’ll see below, most 7 kg machines have the same 60×⁦85 cm⁩ body as an ⁦8–9⁩ kg machine, and the price difference vs 8 kg from a known brand is sometimes zero. So 7 kg is the right choice when the need really is small, not when you’re only trying to save space or money.

Another thing worth knowing: clothes need room to move in the drum to wash well. A 7 kg machine filled to the brim every time washes worse than an 8 kg machine running at 80% load. If you find yourself stuffing it, that’s the sign the machine is too small.

6, 7 or 8 kg: the difference in price and use

6 kg suits one person, 7 kg a couple, and 8 kg anyone with one child or more; the price difference between them is smaller than the difference in convenience.

Per price comparison pages in November 2026:

  • 6 kg: about 50 models. Basic front-loaders like the Fujicom FJ-WM69 (from about ₪850) and Midea MF100W60 (about ₪⁦1,000–1,500⁩), and top-loaders like the Electrolux EW5T7612AM (about ₪⁦1,600–2,200⁩).
  • 7 kg: about ⁦80–125⁩ models. Front-loaders from about ₪1,050 (Midea) up to about ₪2,000 (Samsung, Electrolux), top-loaders about ₪⁦2,000–2,900,⁩ and Miele from about ₪3,200.
  • 8 kg: more than 200 models, from about ₪1,250 at Samsung and about ₪1,650 at Bosch.

What else changes besides capacity? On cheap 6 kg machines the spin is sometimes only ⁦800–1,000⁩ RPM (e.g. the Fujicom FJ-WM69 and Midea MF100W60 up to 1,000 RPM). That means more water in the clothes and more drying time on the line, which you notice in winter.

6 kg machines have one real advantage: some are shallow. Per one seller, the Fujicom FJ-WM69 is about ⁦44 cm⁩ deep, which is relevant for a small bathroom or a niche under the counter. Especially small machines are detailed in our small washing machine guide.

A quick decision table:

  • One person, small apartment, minimal budget: 6 kg.
  • A couple, line-drying: 7 kg with ⁦1,200–1,400⁩ RPM.
  • A couple planning children, or a family of 3: 8 kg.
  • No ⁦60 cm⁩ of width: a ⁦6–7⁩ kg top-loading washing machine ⁦40 cm⁩ wide.

When checking prices, compare the same type of machine. A 7 kg top-loader is usually more expensive than an 8 kg front-loader, because the narrow body requires a different mechanism. If you have ⁦60 cm⁩ of width, a front-loader gives more value.

Bosch 7 kg and “made in Germany”: what’s actually sold today

In November 2026 there are almost no Bosch 7 kg machines from the official importer in Israel, and the product pages we checked don’t state that any of them is made in Germany.

On the Bosch comparison page in the 7 kg category, only four models appear, each at one or two stores:

  • Bosch WAN20052IL: 7 kg, 1,000 RPM, rating B under the previous system, about ₪2,290 at two stores; one seller lists BSH as the official importer.
  • Bosch WAJ2407GPL: 7 kg, 1,200 RPM, rating B under the previous system, about ₪1,990 at one store, with no mention of an official importer. The PL suffix suggests a model for another market.
  • WAN2418GPL and WAE24208IL: each listed at one store, at prices of about ₪⁦2,500–3,150.⁩

What this means: anyone looking for a Bosch 7 kg will pay more today than for a Bosch 8 kg. The 8 kg Bosch WAN28278IL with 1,400 RPM and a BSH warranty starts at about ₪1,870 per store prices and is sold at about 17 stores. So in most cases the recommendation is to step up to 8 kg. All Bosch models are detailed in our Bosch washing machine guide.

As for “made in Germany”: this search is very common, probably because of old Bosch machines remembered as durable. Current product pages don’t support it. For the best-selling base model, the Bosch WAN24170BY, several sellers list made in Poland, and on the other machines the country of manufacture isn’t published. With Miele the situation is similar: one seller writes made in Germany and another made in Poland for the same model.

What to do in practice:

  • Don’t choose by a country of manufacture that appears only in a single seller’s description.
  • Ask the seller directly and ask them to show you the sticker on the box.
  • Give more weight to the official importer’s warranty and service in your area, which are what really decide what happens when there’s a fault.

What you give up with a cheap 7 kg machine

A 7 kg machine priced at about ₪⁦1,000–1,500⁩ washes well, but you usually give up electricity savings, quiet and sometimes broad importer service.

Per the specs sellers publish, the Midea MFL70-U1201 gets a D rating on the new label, with about ⁦69 kWh⁩ per 100 cycles and about ⁦80 dB⁩. For comparison, an efficient ⁦8–9⁩ kg machine from a known brand reaches about ⁦44–⁦50 kWh⁩⁩ per 100 cycles.

In money: a couple running 3 Eco cycles a week uses about ⁦108 kWh⁩ a year on a ⁦69 kWh⁩ machine, and about ⁦73 kWh⁩ on a ⁦47 kWh⁩ machine. The difference is about ⁦35 kWh⁩ a year, i.e. a few tens of shekels. So electricity savings alone don’t justify a machine that costs ₪500 more.

What you do notice:

  • Noise: ⁦80 dB⁩ on spin in a small apartment in the evening is a lot. If the machine is in an open kitchen, it’s a real consideration.
  • Spin: machines of ⁦800–1,000⁩ RPM leave more water, and laundry dries more slowly.
  • Service: with less-known brands, check who the importer is and whether there are technicians in your area.
  • Lifespan: there’s no official figure, but a cheap machine that breaks down after 4 years ends up costing more.

What you get even on a cheap machine: a 15-minute quick program, a steam or hygiene program, delay start up to 24 hours and a child lock. These are already standard even on Midea models.

Cheap machines, deals and second-hand are covered in our cheap washing machine guide.

If you’re torn between a very cheap 7 kg machine and an 8 kg machine from a known brand, think about the cost per year. A ₪1,100 machine that lasts 5 years costs about ₪220 a year; a ₪1,800 machine that lasts 10 years costs about ₪180 a year. There’s no official lifespan figure for each brand, but a long motor warranty and available importer service are the best signs you have in advance.

Dimensions: a 7 kg machine isn’t always smaller

Most 7 kg front-loaders have a full ⁦60 cm⁩ wide, ⁦85 cm⁩ high body (about 24 × 33.5 in), and their depth is similar to ⁦8–9⁩ kg machines.

Per the specs sellers publish, the Miele WEA0251 WCS Active is 85×59.6×⁦63.6 cm⁩, i.e. deeper than the 9 kg LG WFS9014WW slim version (about ⁦47.5 cm⁩). With 7 kg you pay for less capacity, not necessarily less space.

How to choose by space:

  • The problem is depth: look for a slim model. At Samsung, the 8 kg Samsung WW80FG5L32AE is listed by one seller at about ⁦47 cm⁩ deep.
  • The problem is width: a ⁦40 cm⁩-wide top-loading washing machine, e.g. the Electrolux EW5T7612AM (6 kg, about 40×91×⁦61 cm⁩ per one seller) or the Electrolux EW6T3733BM (7 kg).
  • The problem is height (under the counter): check the height is ⁦85 cm⁩ and the feet are adjustable.

In any case, measure the niche and the route to it, add ⁦5–⁦10 cm⁩⁩ at the back for the tap and hose, and make sure the door opens fully. On a top-loader the lid opens upward, so you can’t put it under a low shelf.

On weight: 7 kg machines are a few kilograms lighter, which helps when delivering to a high floor without an elevator. At most stores we saw, delivery is free and lead time is ⁦3–7⁩ business days, but carrying up stairs is sometimes extra. Ask in advance.

In a small bathroom without a window, also plan ventilation: a machine in an enclosed space needs its door left open after every wash, or a moldy smell will appear in the seal within weeks.

7 kg brands in Israel: the differences

In 7 kg front-loaders, the Israeli market is dominated by Samsung, Electrolux, Midea and Miele, and in top-loaders by Electrolux and AEG.

  • Samsung: the WW7ST4043CE and WW70FG3M05AW, both with a spin of up to 1,400 RPM, a Digital Inverter motor and hygiene steam, at about ₪⁦1,400–2,000.⁩ Several sellers list Samsung Israel or Newpro as the importer. All models are in our Samsung washing machine guide.
  • Electrolux: the EWF7028M6WA front-loader with an A rating on the new standard, and the EW6T3733BM top-loader. Details in our Electrolux washing machine guide.
  • Midea: the MFL70-U1201 and MF110W70 at about ₪⁦1,050–1,500.⁩ One seller lists Hamilton as importer.
  • Miele: the WEA0251 WCS Active and WSA0235 at about ₪⁦3,200–4,800,⁩ with a Honeycomb drum and CapDosing. See our Miele washing machine guide.
  • LG: in 7 kg the F1607WD appears, but LG’s range is concentrated at 8 kg and up (WFS8014WB).

There are also brands like Beko, Crystal, Normande, Fujicom and TCL, mostly at about ₪⁦700–1,500.⁩ They can suit a rented apartment, but check who provides the warranty and whether there’s service in your area.

How to choose between Samsung and Electrolux at 7 kg? If you line-dry, Samsung’s 1,400 RPM gives a small advantage. If a new-standard rating and load sensing matter to you, the Electrolux EWF7028M6WA states an A on the new standard. In both cases the price difference is small, so decide by the service in your area.

A checklist for choosing a 7 kg machine in the store

Before ordering a 7 kg machine, go through seven questions; if the answer to two of them is no, you’re probably better off with 8 kg.

  • Are there more than two people at home, or will there be soon? If so, 8 kg.
  • Do you wash bedding and towels together? In 7 kg it’s possible, but without headroom.
  • How many RPM? For line-drying, at least 1,200. An ⁦800–1,000⁩ RPM machine suits only if you have a sunny balcony.
  • What’s the rating on the new label and how many kWh per 100 cycles? If there’s no figure, ask for the label.
  • What’s the actual depth? Don’t assume 7 kg is shallower; check the number.
  • Who is the importer, and how many years of warranty are written on the invoice?
  • How much does an 8 kg machine from the same brand cost that week? Often the difference is less than ₪200.

Another practical tip: 7 kg prices move less in sales than ⁦8–9⁩ kg prices, because most discounts focus on the best-selling models. So precisely during sale periods, like year-end, holidays and Black Friday, an 8 kg machine from a known brand can drop to the price of a 7 kg. If you’re not pressed for time, it’s worth tracking both sizes for a week or two before deciding.

And if you’re in a rented apartment and expect to move in a year or two, think about the next machine too: a 7 kg machine is easy to move and fits almost any niche, but if you move to a family apartment, it will be too small. An 8 kg machine will serve you in the next stage too, for a little more.

Warranty, installation and maintenance on a small machine

Even on a ₪⁦1,000–2,000⁩ machine it’s worth buying with an official importer’s warranty, because one technician visit without warranty can cost a significant part of the machine’s price.

What we saw on the product pages:

  • Samsung: several sellers list a Newpro or Samsung Israel warranty, and one mentions a promotion of 4 years of service for ₪99.
  • Midea: one seller lists Hamilton and a 3-year warranty, another 5 years.
  • Electrolux: several offers are marked official importer, one with an extended VIP warranty.

Before ordering:

  • Make sure the invoice shows the warranty provider’s name and the warranty period.
  • Ask for a Hebrew manual and an Israeli plug, as the Standards Institution of Israel recommends. (Israel runs on 230V/50Hz; a 110V US machine won’t work here.)
  • After delivery, remove the transit bolts before the first run.

Maintenance: even a small machine suffers from limescale in Israel’s hard water. Run a drum-clean program or an empty cycle at 60°C once a month, clean the pump filter every month or two, and leave the door and drawer open to air. Midea and Samsung machines have a dedicated drum-clean program per the specs. The manufacturers’ full instructions are in our washing machine cleaning guide.

The bottom line

Suits: ⁦1–2⁩ people, a rented apartment, a second machine. Reasonable budget: ₪⁦1,050–2,000⁩ (front-loader).

FAQ: 7 kg washing machine Israel

Is a 7 kg washing machine enough for a couple?

Yes. A couple usually washes ⁦2–4⁩ kg at a time, and a 7 kg machine is enough even for double bedding with a few towels. If you’re planning children in the coming years, 8 kg is better now.

How much does a 7 kg washing machine cost in Israel?

Based on store prices in November 2026, a 7 kg front-loader costs about ₪⁦1,050–2,000⁩ from brands like Midea, Samsung and Electrolux. 7 kg top-loaders cost about ₪⁦2,000–2,900,⁩ and a 7 kg Miele about ₪⁦3,200–4,800.⁩

6 kg or 7 kg washing machine?

6 kg is enough for one person, and 7 kg for a couple. Cheap 6 kg machines sometimes reach only ⁦800–1,000⁩ RPM, so laundry comes out wetter. The advantage of some 6 kg machines is shallow depth, e.g. about ⁦44 cm⁩ on the Fujicom FJ-WM69 per one seller.

Is there still a Bosch 7 kg made in Germany?

On the product pages we checked in November 2026, no Bosch 7 kg machine states German manufacture, and there are only a few models at one or two stores. For the best-selling base model WAN24170BY, several sellers list made in Poland. If the country of manufacture matters to you, ask to see the sticker on the box.

Is it worth buying a Bosch 7 kg?

Usually not. Based on store prices, Bosch 7 kg models cost about ₪⁦2,000–2,300⁩ at a few stores, while the 8 kg Bosch WAN28278IL with 1,400 RPM starts at about ₪1,870 and is sold at about 17 stores with a BSH warranty at most sellers.

Is a 7 kg machine smaller than an 8 kg machine?

Not necessarily. Most 7 kg front-loaders are 60×⁦85 cm⁩ with similar depth; the Miele WEA0251, for example, is about ⁦63.6 cm⁩ deep per one seller. If you lack depth, look for a slim model; if you lack width, a top-loader.

7 kg top-loader or front-loader?

A front-loader is cheaper and spins better. A top-loading washing machine suits only when there’s no ⁦60 cm⁩ of width, or when bending is difficult, and at 7 kg it costs about ₪⁦2,000–2,900.⁩

How much electricity does a 7 kg washing machine use?

It depends on the model. The D-rated Midea MFL70-U1201 states about ⁦69 kWh⁩ per 100 cycles; a couple washing 3 times a week on Eco will use about ⁦108 kWh⁩ a year. An efficient machine will use about ⁦30–⁦35 kWh⁩⁩ less, a difference of tens of shekels a year.

Is a 7 kg machine suitable for a duvet?

A single duvet yes; a thick double duvet will be too cramped and won’t wash well. For a family that washes duvets at home, ⁦9–10⁩ kg is better.
