Wine Fridge: How to Choose a Wine Cooler for Your Home
Short answer: for most homes a 12–34 bottle wine fridge with a compressor is enough, costing about ₪1,300–1,950 (NIS) per store prices. Anyone who keeps reds and whites together and buys over time needs a 40–66 bottle fridge, ideally with two temperature zones, in the range of about ₪3,500–5,500.
We did not test wine fridges physically. This guide is based on specs from model pages, prices we saw in Israeli stores in November 2026 and the warranty terms listed in offers. A wine fridge is not just a small regular fridge: it keeps a higher, more stable temperature, with less vibration and without the dry air of a kitchen fridge, so the selection criteria are different.
The short answer
Refrigerator, November 2026- 12–34 bottles
- 43–66 bottles, 2 zones
- ₪1,300–5,850
- Compressor (not thermoelectric) for an Israeli summer
- about 5–20°C (41–68°F)
- Shaded room, ventilation space behind
- 1 year, per the importer's certificate
Models worth checking
Picked on specs, Israeli importer warranty and shop prices in Israel in November 2026. We did not test them at home. Prices change, check before you buy.
Haier HWS34GGH1
34-bottle wine fridge, about 47.5 × 85 × 45.6 cm, freestanding, energy class G
Why: Per the model page on Zap it is the cheapest wine fridge we found with a 34-bottle capacity, and one offer lists Newpan as the official importer with a one-year warranty.
Watch out: The temperature range and cooling type do not yet appear in the Zap spec; check them with the seller before ordering.
Landers LA46R
Small 12-bottle wine fridge, compressor, digital display, double glass, wooden shelves
Why: Per the model page it is a small wine fridge with a compressor rather than thermoelectric, with double glass and a digital temperature display, sold in five stores in a narrow price range.
Watch out: 12 bottles fill up fast; for a few hundred shekels more you get 34 bottles. Dimensions are not detailed on the page.
Vinopo CH85FD1
34-bottle wine fridge, compressor, shallow design
Why: Per the model page it is a compressor fridge described in the offers as a shallow wine fridge, and two offers are marked as official importer.
Watch out: Exact dimensions and temperature range do not appear on the page; ask for the full spec before measuring the niche.
Haier HWS58GGH1
58-bottle wine fridge
Why: Per the model page it gives almost twice as many bottles as the 34-bottle model for about ₪500–800 more, and is sold in about 15 offers.
Watch out: The spec on Zap is partial (cooling type, dimensions and zones marked as coming soon); confirm the details with the importer.
Vinopo SU-43B
43-bottle wine fridge, compressor, 5–20°C range
Why: Per the model page the range is 5–20°C, so you can keep whites cold or reds at storage temperature, and cooling is by compressor.
Watch out: Twice the price of a 34–58 bottle Haier; pay it only if the range and finish matter to you.
Caso WineComfort 66
66-bottle wine fridge, two temperature zones, compressor
Why: Per the offers on the model page it has two separate temperature zones for red and white wine, and compressor cooling.
Watch out: The temperature range of each zone does not appear on the page, and the price is high; make sure it fits in height and depth before ordering.
Prices in Israel: Refrigerator
12–34 bottles for a home that buys wine for Shabbat and hosting; one temperature zone, usually simple metal or wood shelves.
43–58 bottles for anyone keeping a few months' stock; compressor, digital display and sometimes UV-protected glass.
66–75 bottles, usually with two temperature zones for red and white; suits a collector or a small home restaurant setup.
Price ranges seen in Israeli shops and price-comparison sites in November 2026, VAT included, usually without installation.
What to look at before buying
| What to check | What it is | Our recommendation |
|---|---|---|
| Number of bottles | Manufacturers count capacity in standard 0.75-liter Bordeaux bottles. Burgundy, Champagne or wide bottles take up more space. | Get a fridge about 30% larger than what you keep today. If you keep 20 bottles, buy a 30–34 bottle fridge, because actual capacity is lower than stated. |
| Compressor or thermoelectric | A compressor wine fridge works like a regular fridge and holds temperature even when the room is warm. A thermoelectric fridge is quieter and cheaper, but its cooling capacity is limited in a warm room. | In an Israeli home without constant summer air conditioning, choose a compressor. All the models we chose in this guide are defined on the model page as compressor fridges. |
| Temperature zones | A single-zone fridge holds one temperature for all bottles. A dual-zone fridge lets you keep whites colder and reds warmer in the same cabinet. | For long-term storage a single zone of about 12–14°C is enough. If you want whites ready to serve and reds at storage temperature, look for two zones, as on the Caso WineComfort 66. |
| Temperature range | The range the fridge can hold, for example 5–20°C on the Vinopo SU-43B per the model page. | Make sure the range goes down to at least 6–7°C if you drink whites and sparkling, and up to 16–18°C if you serve reds from the fridge. |
| Dimensions and installation | Most wine fridges in this range are freestanding, venting at the back. A built-in wine fridge vents at the front and can go under a countertop. | The Haier HWS34GGH1 is about 47.5 × 85 × 45.6 cm per one offer. If you want to put a wine fridge in a niche between cabinets, confirm with the importer that the model is designed for built-in installation. |
| Door, light and vibration | Wine is sensitive to UV light, vibration and temperature swings. Double glass or anti-UV glass and a quiet compressor reduce all three. | Look on the model page for double glass or Anti-UV and internal LED lighting. If the noise level is not stated, ask the seller before placing the fridge in the living room. |
| Importer and warranty | Wine fridges in Israel are sold both by official importers and by small distributors. Some offers do not detail the warranty. | Choose an offer that states the official importer and at least a one-year warranty. For the Haier HWS34GGH1, one offer lists Newpan as the official importer and a one-year warranty. |
Which wine fridge is right for you?
Choose a wine fridge by the number of bottles you actually keep plus about 30%: 12–34 bottles for most homes, 43–58 for anyone buying by the case, and 66 and up with two zones for collectors.
A wine fridge is usually bought for one of three reasons, and each leads to a different product:
- For serving: you want the wine for Shabbat or hosting at the right temperature, without clearing space in the kitchen fridge. A small 12–34 bottle wine fridge is enough.
- For stock: you buy cases on sale or from a winery, and keep wine for a few months. You need 43–58 bottles and a stable compressor.
- For aging: you keep wines for years. Here stable temperature, minimal vibration and a light-blocking door matter, and sometimes two zones.
How bottles are counted: the capacity the manufacturer states is usually measured with standard 0.75-liter Bordeaux bottles, with shelves filled completely. Wide bottles, like Champagne, Cava or some Israeli wines in Burgundy bottles, take more space. In practice, a 34-bottle fridge will hold about 25–30 in a mixed home.
What the price tells you: per store prices, a compressor wine fridge starts at about ₪1,300. Between 34 and 58 bottles the difference on Haier models is only a few hundred shekels, so if you are torn, the larger one is better value per bottle. Above ₪3,500 you pay for a stated temperature range, finish and two zones, not more capacity.
If what you are mainly looking for is room for cold drinks, beer and cans, a wine fridge is not the right tool: it is set for higher temperatures. In that case get a mini fridge or a small fridge.
Compressor or thermoelectric: what works in an Israeli summer
In an apartment that heats up in summer choose a compressor wine fridge; a thermoelectric fridge only suits an air-conditioned room and a small number of bottles.
Compressor: the same technology as a regular fridge. It can cool to the temperature you choose even when the room is 28–30°C, and holds it steady. The downside: slight vibration and noise when the compressor runs. On all the models we chose in this guide the model page states compressor cooling, or the offers define it that way.
Thermoelectric: no compressor and no refrigerant, but an electronic component that moves heat outward. It is very quiet with almost no vibration, so it is sold mainly in small, cheap wine fridges. But its cooling capacity is measured relative to room temperature, so in a hot room it will not reach the temperature you set. In an Israeli summer, in a living room without constant air conditioning, this is a real problem.
How to know what you are buying: on the model page look for the word compressor. If it says thermoelectric or electronic cooling, it is thermoelectric. If the cooling type does not appear, as on some Haier pages on Zap, ask the seller before paying.
What about noise: most Israeli product pages do not state a noise level for wine fridges. If the fridge will stand in an open living room or near a bedroom, ask for the decibel figure from the manufacturer's manual. One offer for the 58-bottle model lists 37 dB, but the figure does not appear in the model's own spec, so we did not rely on it.
Electricity: a small wine fridge uses less than a kitchen fridge, but it runs 24 hours a day all year. On Haier's 34-bottle model one offer lists class G, the lowest on the scale, with no kWh figure. If consumption matters to you, ask for the annual figure before buying.
Temperature and zones: one zone or two
For storage only, one temperature zone of about 12–14°C is enough; two zones are worth the price only if you want to serve both whites and reds straight from the fridge.
One zone: all bottles at the same temperature. This is what most wine fridges up to about ₪4,000 have. The common recommendation for storing all types of wine is a stable temperature around 12–14°C (about 54–57°F). Before serving, take the red out about half an hour ahead, and put the white in the kitchen fridge for a quarter of an hour.
Two zones: two compartments, each with its own temperature. Usually the upper compartment is colder for whites and sparkling, and the lower one warmer for reds. Per the offers on the model page, the Caso WineComfort 66 has two separate zones for red and white wine. Each zone's capacity is smaller than the total, so if most of your wine is red, make sure the warm zone is large enough.
Temperature range: this is the most important figure to check on the model page. The Vinopo SU-43B is rated 5–20°C, and the Vinopo SU-75 3–22°C per the model page (one offer for another version lists 5–20). If you drink a lot of sparkling, look for a range that goes down to 5–6°C.
Stability matters more than precision: wine suffers more from repeated temperature changes than from a temperature a degree or two above ideal. So a wine fridge in a shaded spot, not opened dozens of times a day, keeps wine better than an expensive fridge standing by a west-facing window.
What about a regular fridge? A kitchen fridge runs at about 4°C, too cold for long-term wine storage, and the air is dry. For a bottle you will open this week that is fine; for months of stock a wine fridge is better.
Small wine fridge: 12 to 34 bottles
A small 12–34 bottle wine fridge costs per store prices about ₪1,290–1,970, and suits most apartments in Israel that keep wine for Shabbat and hosting.
The models we saw in this range:
- Landers LA46R: 12 bottles, compressor, digital display, double glass and wooden shelves, about ₪1,590–1,650.
- Haier HWS34GGH1: 34 bottles, about 47.5 cm wide, 85 cm high and 45.6 cm deep per one offer, freestanding, about ₪1,290–1,490.
- Vinopo CH85FD1: 34 bottles, compressor, described in the offers as a shallow wine fridge, about ₪1,700–1,970.
The insight from the prices: at the time of writing, a 34-bottle Haier was cheaper than a 12-bottle Landers. In other words, in a small wine fridge size does not set the price; brand, sales and finish do. Compare by price per bottle and by cooling type.
Where to place it: an 85 cm high fridge fits by a sideboard, in the dining corner or under a window. Most small wine fridges are freestanding and release heat from the back, so do not put them inside a closed cabinet or a tight niche. A wine fridge designed for built-in installation takes air from the front and is designed for this; it is a different product.
A wine fridge under the countertop: at 85 cm high, a 34-bottle fridge will not fit under most countertops without adjustment, because the free height under the counter is lower. If that is the plan, look for a model defined as built-in, and measure the niche with clearance.
What about a 6–8 bottle wine fridge? They exist, mostly thermoelectric. They suit an air-conditioned office or study, less a living room that heats up in summer. In price per bottle, they are almost always more expensive than 34 bottles.
Large wine fridge: 43 to 75 bottles
A 43–75 bottle wine fridge suits anyone keeping stock for a few months or aging wine, and costs per store prices between about ₪1,800 and about ₪5,850.
The models we saw:
- Haier HWS58GGH1: 58 bottles, about ₪1,790–2,290. The lowest price per bottle we found.
- Vinopo SU-43B: 43 bottles, compressor, 5–20°C, about ₪3,500–4,150.
- Caso WineComfort 66: 66 bottles, two zones, compressor, about ₪5,350–5,500.
- Vinopo SU-75: 75 bottles, compressor, 3–22°C per the model page, about ₪5,580–5,840.
What you get when you pay more: not necessarily more bottles. The difference between ₪2,000 and ₪5,500 is mainly two temperature zones, a stated wide range, shelves on sliding rails, and finish. If you mainly keep reds and drink them at air-conditioned room temperature, a single-zone 58-bottle fridge will do.
Weight and placement: a full 60–75 bottle fridge weighs dozens of kilograms, and a full bottle weighs about 1.2–1.5 kg. Make sure the floor is level, because vibration from an unlevel fridge is felt in the wine and increases noise. Place the fridge where you will not need to move it when it is full.
Shelves: large wine fridges usually have pull-out shelves. A shelf that pulls all the way out lets you see the label without removing bottles. If one shelf is designed to hold open bottles upright, that is an advantage for anyone who drinks a bottle over several days.
When it becomes a built-in fridge: anyone planning a new kitchen who wants a wine fridge inside the cabinets, in line with a built-in fridge and built-in ovens, needs a built-in model with front ventilation. Check the niche dimensions and ventilation requirements with the importer before the carpenter starts.
Placement, electricity and installation of a wine fridge
Place the wine fridge in a shaded room, away from windows, heat sources and sunlight, with a few centimeters behind for ventilation, on a level floor.
Heat: a compressor fridge works harder when the room is hot, which raises noise and consumption. In an Israeli summer, a wine fridge standing by a west-facing window or on an enclosed balcony without air conditioning will run almost nonstop. Prefer an interior wall.
Ventilation: in a freestanding wine fridge heat leaves from the back and sides. Leave a few centimeters behind and at the sides, per the manufacturer's manual. Do not put such a fridge in a tight niche between cabinets.
Light: direct sunlight and strong bulbs damage wine over time. A double or UV-protected glass door, and internal LED lighting that turns off when the door is closed, reduce the problem. If the fridge is in a bright room, do not leave the internal light on.
Electrical connection: connect to a grounded wall outlet, not a power strip. After transport, let the fridge stand for a few hours before plugging it in, per the manual. Let it reach temperature before adding bottles, and fill it gradually.
Shabbat: wine fridges with a digital display and internal lighting usually do not come with a certified Shabbat mode, and the model pages we read do not mention halachic institute certification. Shabbat observers need to check whether the light and display can be disabled, and consult their rabbi.
Warranty and importer: some wine fridges are sold by an official importer and some by small distributors. For Haier, one offer lists Newpan as the official importer and a one-year warranty; for Caso, an authorized importer warranty appears. Prefer an offer that details who provides service, because repairing a wine fridge's compressor is not always worth its price.
Before ordering a wine fridge: checklist
Before paying, confirm five things: cooling type, temperature range, dimensions with ventilation clearance, who provides the warranty, and exactly what delivery includes.
1. Cooling type. The model page should say compressor. If the field is empty or says coming soon, as on some model pages on Zap, ask the seller for written confirmation. The difference between compressor and thermoelectric is the difference between a fridge that works in August and one that does not.
2. Temperature range. Make sure the range covers what you drink. Whites and sparkling need to go down to 5–7°C; long-term storage needs 12–14°C; reds for serving 15–18°C.
3. Dimensions. Measure width, height and depth, and add the clearance the manual requires at the back and sides. Also check that the door opens fully next to the wall, so shelves can be pulled out. If the door is reversible, decide in advance which side it will open.
4. Warranty and service. Look in the offer for an official importer, warranty length and who comes to repair. On a ₪1,300 wine fridge, a paid technician visit can cost a sizable share of the fridge's price, so a one-year warranty with home service is worth a difference of a few dozen shekels.
5. Delivery and carrying up. An 85 cm wine fridge can be transported in a private car, but preferably upright. A 60–75 bottle fridge is heavy and tall, and on a high floor without an elevator make sure carrying up is included in the price.
And one more question for yourself: how much wine do you actually keep? If it is six bottles for Shabbat, a free shelf in a 4-door fridge or a flex drawer in a bottom-freezer fridge may be enough, and the budget is better invested in the kitchen fridge itself.
And if you are buying on sale: wine fridge prices on Zap vary by a few hundred shekels between stores for the same model. Compare the final price including delivery, and check that the store offering the lowest price lists importer warranty, not just a price.
Bottom line: which wine fridge to buy
For most homes buy a 34-bottle compressor wine fridge for about ₪1,300–1,950; for months of stock, 58 bottles for about ₪1,800–2,300; and only pay for two zones if you serve red and white together.
- Small apartment, wine for Shabbat: the 12-bottle Landers LA46R, or the 34-bottle Haier HWS34GGH1 if there is room for 85 cm of height.
- Narrow kitchen: Vinopo CH85FD1, described in the offers as shallow. Ask for the exact depth.
- Buying by the case: Haier HWS58GGH1, the cheapest per bottle we found.
- Want a stated temperature range: Vinopo SU-43B, 5–20°C.
- Red and white ready to serve: Caso WineComfort 66 with two zones.
What not to do: do not buy a thermoelectric wine fridge for a living room that heats up in summer, do not place a wine fridge near a heat source or window, and do not buy by bottle count without adding margin for wide bottles.
How to compare two similar models: divide the price by the number of bottles, make sure both use a compressor, and compare temperature range, glass type and warranty terms. By this calculation, at the time of writing a 58-bottle Haier cost about ₪31–40 per bottle, vs more than ₪130 per bottle for a 12-bottle fridge.
And if you mainly need extra space for food and drinks rather than wine, compare with a small fridge or small freezer, and you will find all kitchen fridge types in our best refrigerator guide.
The bottom line
For a regular home: 12–34 bottles. For a beginner collector: 43–66 bottles, 2 zones.

FAQ: wine fridge Israel
How much does a wine fridge cost in Israel?
Per store prices in November 2026, a small 12–34 bottle compressor wine fridge costs about ₪1,290–1,970. A 43–58 bottle fridge costs about ₪1,800–4,150, and a 66–75 bottle dual-zone fridge about ₪5,350–5,850.
What temperature should wine be kept at in a wine fridge?
The common recommendation for long-term storage of all wine types is a stable temperature of about 12–14°C. For serving, whites and sparkling are colder and reds warmer, so a dual-zone fridge is convenient for anyone serving straight from the fridge.
Which is better, a compressor or thermoelectric wine fridge?
In an Israeli apartment that heats up in summer, a compressor. A thermoelectric fridge is quieter, but its cooling capacity is limited when the room is warm. All the models we chose in this guide are defined on the model pages or in offers as compressor fridges.
Can wine be kept in a regular fridge?
For a few days, yes. For months of storage a kitchen fridge is too cold (about 4°C), dry, opened often and vibrating, so a wine fridge is more suitable. Keep an open bottle in a regular fridge, well sealed.
How many bottles really fit in a 34-bottle wine fridge?
Capacity is usually measured with standard 0.75-liter Bordeaux bottles. With wide bottles, like Champagne or Burgundy, fewer fit, and in a home with mixed bottles expect about 25–30.
What are the dimensions of a small wine fridge?
Per one offer for the Haier HWS34GGH1, a 34-bottle fridge is about 47.5 cm wide, 85 cm high and 45.6 cm deep. Leave ventilation space behind and at the sides, unless the model is defined for built-in installation.
Can a wine fridge go inside a cabinet?
Only if the model is designed for built-in installation and vents at the front. A freestanding wine fridge releases heat from the back and sides, and in a closed niche it will work hard, be noisy and may break down.
Is a wine fridge noisy?
A compressor fridge makes noise when the compressor runs, and a thermoelectric one is almost silent. Most Israeli product pages do not state decibels for wine fridges, so ask the seller for the figure if the fridge will stand in the living room.
Why do you need two temperature zones in a wine fridge?
To keep whites and sparkling colder and reds warmer in the same fridge, ready to serve. For storage only, one zone of about 12–14°C is enough for all wine types.
Is there a wine fridge with Shabbat mode?
The wine fridge model pages we read do not mention a certified Shabbat mode. If you keep Shabbat, check whether the internal light and display can be turned off, and consult your rabbi about what is needed.
