Integrated Dishwasher in Israel: Fully or Semi-Integrated, and How to Get the Dimensions Right

Updated November 6, 2026. Written by Binyamin Elkalay. Compared on specs and Israeli shop prices, no lab testing.

The short answer: a fully integrated dishwasher disappears completely behind a cabinet panel, while a semi-integrated one leaves the control panel visible. Both fit a standard niche ⁦60 cm⁩ (24 in) wide (or ⁦45 cm⁩ / 18 in on slim models) and 81.5 to ⁦87.5 cm⁩ (⁦32–34.5⁩ in) high. In Israel they cost about ₪⁦2,200–5,700⁩ (NIS), not including the cabinet panel and installation.

This guide is based on specs from Bosch’s Israeli importer site, product pages at Israeli stores and price ranges we saw in November 2026. We did not physically test the appliances. If you’re still deciding between a freestanding and a built-in dishwasher, start with our best dishwasher guide.

What to look at before buying

What to checkWhat it isOur recommendation
Fully or semi-integratedOn a fully integrated model, the whole front is covered by a cabinet door and the control panel sits on the top edge of the door. On a semi-integrated model, the control strip stays visible above the cabinet panel.Clean, minimalist kitchen: fully integrated. If you want to see how much time is left without opening the door: semi-integrated.
Niche dimensionsBosch Israel’s site lists a niche of ⁦81.5–⁦87.5 cm⁩⁩ high, ⁦60–⁦60.8 cm⁩⁩ wide and ⁦55 cm⁩ deep for ⁦60 cm⁩ models.Measure the height from the floor to the underside of the countertop after the plinth is installed, not before. Make sure there’s at least ⁦55 cm⁩ of depth including pipes.
Panel and door weightThe cabinet panel is screwed onto the dishwasher door, and the hinges must carry its weight.Coordinate the panel weight and hinge type with the carpenter. For a particularly heavy panel, check the permitted weight in the installation instructions.
CapacityNumber of place settings per the specs.⁦60 cm⁩: ⁦13–14⁩ place settings for a family. ⁦45 cm⁩: ⁦9–10⁩ place settings for a couple or small family.
NoiseA built-in dishwasher is quieter than a freestanding one because the cabinetry insulates it, but the difference between models is still noticeable. In a kitchen open to the living room, ⁦42–⁦44 dB⁩⁩. The quiet program sometimes drops to ⁦41 dB⁩.
End-of-cycle indicatorOn a fully integrated dishwasher you can’t see the panel. Some models project a light spot on the floor or beep.If you want to know when it’s finished, check for a floor light or an app notification.
Warranty and installationInstallation is more complex than for a freestanding dishwasher, and some faults stem from incorrect installation.Prefer an official importer (yevuan rasmi), and ask the installer to confirm the installation follows the manufacturer’s instructions.

What’s the difference between a fully integrated and a semi-integrated dishwasher?

A fully integrated dishwasher is completely hidden behind a cabinet panel, while a semi-integrated one sits below a visible control strip at the top of the door.

Fully integrated: the control panel is on the top edge of the door, and you only see it when you open it. From outside, the kitchen looks like a continuous row of cabinets. This is the common solution in new Israeli kitchens, especially kitchens open to the living room. The downside: you can’t see how much time is left without opening the door or checking the app, unless the model has a floor light spot.

Semi-integrated: the cabinet panel covers most of the door, but a top strip with the buttons and display stays visible, usually in stainless steel or black. You can see when it’s finished and start it without opening. Some people like the look less, because the strip breaks the run of cabinet fronts.

In Israeli stores you’ll see both terms. On Bosch Israel’s site, for example, they appear in the built-in dishwasher category alongside the fully integrated models: the SMI2HTS08E, SMI2HTB06E, SMI4HAS07E and SMI4HCS07E are semi-integrated, and the SMV4ECX26E, SMV6ECX10E and SMD4EB805E are fully integrated.

How can you tell from the model name? With Bosch and Siemens, the third letter hints at the installation type: SMS is freestanding, SMI semi-integrated, and SMV or SMD fully integrated. On slim models it’s SPS, SPI and SPV. It’s not an official standard across all brands, but it helps avoid confusion on store sites.

Which to choose? If you’re designing a new kitchen with uniform fronts, fully integrated. If the dishwasher sits in a corner where it’s less visible, or seeing the remaining time matters to you, semi-integrated. In terms of cleaning, capacity and noise, there’s no fundamental difference between the two types in the same series.

Another small difference worth knowing is the handle. On a semi-integrated dishwasher, the handle is mounted on the cabinet panel like the other cabinets. On a fully integrated one you can fit a handle the same way, or choose a handleless kitchen, in which case the dishwasher opens with a push or a grip recess in the panel. If your kitchen is handleless, confirm with the carpenter that the solution suits the dishwasher door’s weight and daily opening.

Niche dimensions: how much space does a built-in dishwasher need?

A ⁦60 cm⁩ integrated dishwasher needs, per Bosch Israel’s site, a niche ⁦60–⁦60.8 cm⁩⁩ wide, ⁦81.5–⁦87.5 cm⁩⁩ high and ⁦55 cm⁩ deep.

These figures appear on the importer’s product pages, for example for the SMI4HAS07E and SMD4EB805E. The height range comes from adjustable feet: the dishwasher itself is ⁦81.5 cm⁩ high and can be raised until it touches the underside of the countertop. Slim built-in dishwashers are the same height and ⁦45 cm⁩ wide. The importer’s site also lists a compact built-in dishwasher ⁦60 cm⁩ high and ⁦45 cm⁩ wide, for a niche under the oven or in a tower.

How to measure correctly:

  • Height: from the floor to the underside of the countertop, where the dishwasher will stand. If the floor isn’t final yet, account for the tile thickness.
  • Width: between the two cabinets or between a cabinet and the wall, at three points. Take the smallest number.
  • Depth: from the back wall to the front line of the cabinets, including space for pipes and the angle valve.
  • Plinth (sokel): the bottom panel of the cabinets. Confirm with the carpenter that the plinth height suits the dishwasher door, or the door will catch on the plinth when it opens.

Common mistakes in Israeli kitchen renovations:

  • A niche planned at ⁦60 cm⁩ that came out ⁦59.5 cm⁩ because of a tile or profile.
  • A thick stone countertop that reduced the net height below ⁦81.5 cm⁩.
  • An angle valve or outlet positioned right behind the dishwasher, preventing it from being pushed all the way in.

The recommendation: choose the dishwasher model before the carpenter finalizes the plan, and give them the manufacturer’s installation sheet. That way the panel will also be ordered at the right size. The same rule applies to a built-in oven and an integrated microwave, which also have defined niche dimensions.

Before the carpenter starts, ask them to mark the location of the angle valve, drain and outlet on the plan. The convenient spot is in the adjacent sink cabinet, not behind the dishwasher. That way, if you need to replace the dishwasher or shut off the water in the future, you won’t have to pull it out of the niche.

Cabinet panel and installation: what isn’t included in the price?

The store price of an integrated dishwasher doesn’t include the cabinet panel or the fitting work, and in a new kitchen the panel comes from the carpenter along with the other cabinets.

On a fully integrated dishwasher, the carpenter makes a panel in the same finish as the rest of the kitchen, and the installer screws it onto the dishwasher door using a template that comes in the box. On a semi-integrated model the panel is shorter, because the top strip stays visible. In both cases, the panel weight must suit the door hinges. Many models have springs adjustable to the panel weight, and that’s part of the installation.

What installation includes:

  • Connecting to a cold-water angle valve, the sink drain and a power outlet.
  • Leveling the dishwasher with the adjustable feet.
  • Securing the dishwasher to the countertop or side cabinets so it doesn’t tip when the door opens.
  • Fitting the panel and adjusting the hinges.
  • Installing a vapor shield under the countertop, when supplied with the appliance, to prevent damage to a wooden countertop.

In stores, installing an integrated dishwasher is usually a paid extra service, sometimes offered in a promotion. If the carpenter is installing the kitchen, ask whether they also install the dishwasher, as that’s sometimes simpler.

Electrical: the dishwasher plugs into a regular 16-amp outlet, but the outlet is better placed in the adjacent cabinet rather than behind the dishwasher, so it can be unplugged without dismantling. (Israel runs on 230V/50Hz.) In a new kitchen, plan the circuits together: dishwasher, built-in oven, and an induction cooktop, which sometimes needs a separate 25 or 32 amp line or a three-phase connection.

A practical tip for installation day: right after fitting, check that the door opens fully without touching the plinth or the neighboring cabinet’s handle, and that it stays open at an intermediate angle without dropping or closing on its own. If the door drops or slams, the springs weren’t adjusted to the panel weight, which is a few minutes’ fix for the installer. Run a short cycle and check there’s no leak under the dishwasher before the installer leaves.

How much does an integrated dishwasher cost in Israel?

A ⁦60 cm⁩ integrated dishwasher costs about ₪⁦1,500–5,700⁩ in Israel based on store price ranges in November 2026, and most popular models fall between ₪2,200 and ₪4,500.

What we saw in stores and on price comparison sites:

  • Bosch SMV4ECX26E, fully integrated Serie 4: about ₪⁦2,250–4,900.⁩
  • Bosch SMV6ECX10E, fully integrated Serie 6: about ₪⁦3,100–5,700.⁩
  • Bosch SMI4HAS07E, semi-integrated Serie 4: about ₪⁦3,130–4,490.⁩
  • Bosch SMI2HTS08E, semi-integrated Serie 2: about ₪⁦2,600–3,300.⁩
  • Price comparison sites also list basic integrated models from Electrolux, Beko, AEG and Sauter, in a range of about ₪⁦1,450–2,800.⁩

Note that the gaps between stores for the same model are very large, sometimes more than ₪2,000. The difference comes from delivery costs, promotions, extended warranty and sometimes old stock. Before comparing, make sure it’s exactly the same model code, since a one-letter change can be a different model with different specs.

For the total budget, add:

  • A cabinet panel from the carpenter (part of the kitchen).
  • Installation (usually a few hundred shekels).
  • A warranty extension, if you want one: Bosch Israel offers a three-year warranty for an extra ₪199 on a range of products.

If the budget doesn’t allow a built-in dishwasher now, you can leave a ⁦60 cm⁩ niche and temporarily put in a freestanding dishwasher that fits, then replace it later. Some freestanding dishwashers let you remove the top cover and slide them under the counter. We cover these options in our best dishwasher guide.

When is it worth paying more for a built-in dishwasher? When the kitchen is open to the living room, when you run it at night, and when you want to keep the appliance for many years. A built-in dishwasher is harder to replace than a freestanding one, since replacing it also involves fitting the panel, so saving a few hundred shekels at purchase may cost more later.

Noise, drying and energy in a built-in dishwasher

A built-in dishwasher is quieter than the same model freestanding thanks to the surrounding cabinets, and on Bosch Serie 4 and up, noise is ⁦42–⁦44 dB⁩⁩ per the specs.

Noise: for the SMV4ECX26E the specs state ⁦44 dB⁩, and ⁦41 dB⁩ on the quiet program. For the SMI4HAS07E, SMV6ECX10E and SMD4EB805E the specs state ⁦42 dB⁩. In a kitchen open to the living room, ⁦2–⁦3 dB⁩⁩ is a noticeable difference in the evening.

Drying: in a built-in dishwasher the steam stays inside the cabinet, so good drying matters more. Bosch has two main methods: a heat exchanger, and automatic door opening at the end of the program. The ExtraDry option raises the temperature during the drying phase. If the door opens automatically, make sure the vapor shield is installed under the countertop.

Energy: on the new European scale, the models in this guide range from A to D. For the SMD4EB805E, per the importer’s site, consumption is ⁦0.535 kWh⁩ per Eco cycle, compared with ⁦0.736 kWh⁩ for the C-rated SMI4HAS07E. With daily use the difference comes to a few tens of shekels a year.

Water: all the models we checked on the importer’s site use about 9 liters (2.4 US gal) per Eco cycle.

Limescale: even with a built-in dishwasher, setting the water hardness and filling the salt are a must in Israel. Once the dishwasher is built in, it’s harder to access for repairs, so keep up with maintenance: clean the filter every few weeks, and run a machine-cleaning program every month or two.

Fault signs worth knowing: water at the bottom at the end of the program usually means a clogged filter or kinked drain hose. Very wet dishes mean missing rinse aid or a drying setting that doesn’t suit the dishware. A white film on glasses means the hardness is set too low. You can solve all three yourself before calling a technician.

Shabbat mode, warranty and parallel import on an integrated dishwasher

Shabbat mode doesn’t appear in the specs on the product pages of the integrated dishwashers we checked, so if it matters to you, ask for halachic certification for the specific model.

In a built-in kitchen there’s another Shabbat-related consideration: the floor light spot and interior lights. If this matters to you, ask the seller which components switch on when the door opens, and consult a rabbi about usage. We don’t rule on halacha.

Warranty: for all the Bosch models in this guide, store product pages list the official importer and a one-year warranty from BSH Home Appliances, per the warranty certificate. Bosch Israel’s site also offers an extension to three years for an extra ₪199, where the two extra years are a limited warranty, and joining the club adds one more month.

Parallel import (yevu makbil): with a built-in dishwasher, where repairs mean pulling the appliance out of the niche, it’s especially important to know who provides service. If a model is listed in a store as not from the official importer, ask in writing for the service company’s details and response times.

A fault in the first year: if the dishwasher was installed by an installer not working for the store or importer, and the fault stems from the installation, it may not be covered. Keep a receipt for the installation.

Energy label in the store: Israeli store product pages usually show the new European rating, sometimes with the old rating in parentheses. Don’t get confused: a dishwasher shown as D on the new scale may be A++ on the old scale. Always compare on the same scale, and if possible, compare consumption in kWh per cycle, listed on the importer’s site.

Slim and compact integrated dishwashers: when are they the answer?

A ⁦45 cm⁩ slim integrated dishwasher suits a small kitchen where you want uniform fronts, and a ⁦60 cm⁩-high compact built-in dishwasher suits a tower or a niche under the oven.

Bosch Israel’s site lists categories for slim built-in dishwashers (45×⁦81.5 cm⁩), such as the semi-integrated SPI2HKS02E, and compact built-in dishwashers ⁦60 cm⁩ high (45×⁦60 cm⁩). Price comparison sites also list a fully integrated slim Bosch model, the SPV2HKX42E, at about ₪⁦2,350–3,990.⁩

When to choose slim? When the kitchen is small, or when a kosher family plans two dishwashers, for example a full-size one for meat (basari) and a slim one for dairy (chalavi). In that case, two integrated dishwashers look like ordinary cabinets.

When not to choose slim? When there’s room for a ⁦60 cm⁩ niche. A slim dishwasher holds ⁦9–10⁩ place settings versus ⁦13–14,⁩ and the price difference is small. We cover all the small options, including countertop dishwashers, in our small dishwasher guide, and the comparison between Bosch series in our Bosch dishwasher guide.

If you’re planning a whole kitchen, also go over the niche dimensions for a built-in oven (about ⁦56–⁦60 cm⁩⁩ high) and a built-in microwave (about ⁦38 cm⁩ high), so the carpenter can plan all the towers together.

Recommended workflow for a kitchen renovation with a built-in dishwasher:

  • Choose a model and download the installation sheet from the importer’s site.
  • Give the carpenter the niche dimensions, panel weight and plinth height.
  • Plan with an electrician and plumber the location of the outlet, angle valve and drain in the adjacent cabinet.
  • Order the dishwasher so it arrives before the countertop is fitted, or at least before the fronts are fitted.
  • At installation, check leveling, securing, spring adjustment and a test cycle with no leaks.
  • Set the water hardness, fill salt and rinse aid, and register the appliance for warranty.

That way you’ll get a dishwasher that looks like part of the kitchen, fits the niche exactly and runs quietly for years, without surprises on installation day or extra costs you didn’t plan for.

The bottom line

Niche width: ⁦60 cm⁩ (slim: ⁦45 cm⁩). Niche height: ⁦81.5–⁦87.5 cm⁩⁩.

FAQ: integrated dishwasher in Israel

What’s the difference between a fully integrated and a semi-integrated dishwasher?

On a fully integrated model, the whole door is covered by a cabinet panel and the control panel is hidden on the top edge. On a semi-integrated model, the top control strip stays visible, so you can see the remaining time and start it without opening the door.

What are the niche dimensions for an integrated dishwasher?

Per Bosch Israel’s site, a ⁦60 cm⁩ built-in dishwasher needs a niche ⁦60–⁦60.8 cm⁩⁩ wide, ⁦81.5–⁦87.5 cm⁩⁩ high and ⁦55 cm⁩ deep. A slim built-in dishwasher is ⁦45 cm⁩ wide at the same height.

How much does an integrated dishwasher cost in Israel?

Based on store prices in November 2026, about ₪⁦1,500–5,700,⁩ with most popular models between ₪2,200 and ₪4,500. The price doesn’t include the cabinet panel or installation.

Does the cabinet panel come with the dishwasher?

No. The panel is ordered from the carpenter in the same finish as the rest of the kitchen and screwed onto the dishwasher door during installation. The box usually includes a drilling template.

Can I put a freestanding dishwasher in an integrated niche?

Sometimes. Some freestanding dishwashers let you remove the top cover and slide them under the counter, but the door stays visible and won’t match the fronts. Check the manufacturer’s instructions to see whether the model is suitable for under-counter installation.

Is an integrated dishwasher quieter?

Yes, the surrounding cabinets insulate some of the noise. On the Bosch Serie 4 and 6 models we checked, noise is ⁦42–⁦44 dB⁩⁩ per the specs, and ⁦41 dB⁩ on the SMV4ECX26E’s quiet program.

How do you know when a fully integrated dishwasher has finished?

Depending on the model: a light spot on the floor, an end-of-cycle sound or a notification in the Home Connect app. If it matters to you, check the specs for this option before buying.

Who installs an integrated dishwasher?

Usually an installer from the store or the carpenter installing the kitchen. Installation includes water, drain and power hookup, leveling, securing and fitting the panel, and it’s worth keeping a receipt in case of a fault under warranty.

Is there an integrated dishwasher with Shabbat mode?

On the models we checked in this guide, Shabbat mode doesn’t appear in the specs. If it matters to you, ask the seller for written halachic certification for the specific model.

Which integrated dishwasher is best?

For most kitchens, the Bosch SMV4ECX26E is a balanced choice based on specs and price. If you want maximum quiet and efficiency, consider the A-rated SMV6ECX10E, and if you prefer a visible panel, consider the SMI4HAS07E.
